FAQ

PLEASE READ FAQ IF YOU USE CUSTOM OR SHARED FOLDERS IN MYEBSCO!

Q: What is EBSCOhost?

A: EBSCOhost hosts some of our research databases like Academic Search Complete, ERIC, MEDLINE, and more. The new interface will give you a new way to use the same journals and databases you know and love. The new look can be confusing at first, so we've created this guide to ensure you can find your way around.

Q: When is EBSCOhost's interface changing?

A: EBSCOhost is migrating interfaces on January 7th, 2025.

Q: What is changing?

A: The EBSCOhost search page will have a new, cleaner look.

You're probably used to EBSCOhost looking like this:

With the new interface, it will look like this:

All changes have been made based on extensive user feedback to provide users like you a better research experience. The interface will be introducing new features or reintroducing classic interface features over the next year. Please check the UI roadmap to learn more about features and expected release dates here.

Q: What does this mean for me?

A: Most settings will automatically migrate to the new interface come January. However, ANY ITEMS saved to custom and shared folders in EBSCOhost will NOT be migrated over immediately in January. EBSCO plans to introduce a custom/shared folder download option in April 2025, but until then, these items will be lost if you do not save them before then.

Q: How do I know which folder is which?

A: There are three folder types in EBSCOhost (Each folder is different, so make sure you know where your items are saved and move them or save them elsewhere before the migration date!). You can find them by signing into your MyEBSCO account and clicking "Folder" in the top right of the menu bar as shown below.

After clicking "Folder", you will find all folder types in the left sidebar with items sorted by item type.

1. My Folder. This is your general folder. If you do not sort your saved items into any particular custom or shared folder, they will be saved here. The following saved items in My Folder WILL be migrated to the new interface:

  • Articles
  • Images
  • Videos
  • eBooks
  • eBook Holds
  • eBook Checkouts

The following saved items in your My Folder will NOT be migrated to the new interface until April 2025:

  • Companies
  • Webpages
  • Journal Alerts
  • Search Alerts
  • Persistent Link to Searches
  • Notes
  • Pages
  • Other content sources

2. My Custom. This is for custom folders you've created to sort saved items. ANY ITEMS in custom folders will not be migrated over to the new interface, so move all compatible items to My Folder or save elsewhere before the migration. If you have not created a custom folder, you do not need to worry about this one.

3. Shared By. This is where all shared folders you have created OR folders others have shared with you lives. ANY ITEMS in shared folders will not be migrated over to the new interface, so move all compatible items to My Folder or save elsewhere before the migration. If you have not created a shared folder or had a folder shared with you, you do not need to worry about this one.

More information about folders can be found here.
