A commercial site containing military records, but does contain vital statistics. Digital copies of Texas birth and death certificates are available here. Searching is free but a subscription is required for viewing documents.
Search the catalog of the National Archives and Records Administration. The nearest NARA archive is in Fort Worth Texas but you can submit reference questions to the NARA librarians.
